What's the difference between Tennessee whiskey and any other American whiskey? Aside from having to be made in TN, the spirit has to undergo filtering through maple charcoal prior to ageing (a.k.a. the Lincoln County Process). This is said to remove impurities and produce a particularly smooth and mellow whiskey. 1.
