In the 1700s and 1800s, Rye whiskey was the number one spirit in America. Then came Prohibition, and the closure of Rye distilleries forced it out of favor. Fortunately Rye is Back, and we celebrated its bold, spicy character with a selection of gems.
1. Templeton Rye
From Templeton, IA (via Indiana).
91.5 proof. 95% rye and 5% barley
Aged six years in new American oak barrels

2. Basil Hayden's Dark Rye
From Kentucky, but has Canadian Rye whisky blended in with a touch of actual California Port.

3. Old Overholt Rye
After Beam bought the brand, Old Overholt was pulled up by its Pennsylvania roots and transplanted to Kentucky.
Used to be 100 Proof a half century ago. Now 80 Proof, 40% ABV
